Connect before Dissolve is a series of 10 sculptures made out of glycerine soap referring to the solubility of human relationships. The individual soaps can be used in the bath or for hand washing, or simply live in their display case. Each cast in this edition of 10 is taken from a mold made of an original ceramic sculpture. Available in groups of three and four, they can all be connected into one chain. Each box is accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.
Sascha Mallon was born in a small industrial city in Austria. She has been exhibited extensively in the US and Europe using multiple mediums. Upon graduation from the University of Vienna, Sascha travelled all over Europe and the US and now resides in Brooklyn with her husband and her young daughter. Currently she is working as an artist-in-residence in a hospital in New York and as a teacher of young kids. Sascha is interested in human nature and human stories, peoples' passions and how they relate to each other.
